Pamukkale, also known as the “Cotton Castle,” is a glistening white marvel created by limestone-laden hot springs, giving rise to stalactites, pot-holes, and enchanting fairy tables. The water is renowned for its alleged benefits to the eyes and skin, offering relief for ailments such as asthma, rheumatism, and dermatitis. Paddling through the warm water provides an exhilarating experience, allowing glimpses of ancient column fragments beneath the water’s surface. While the baths are enjoyable, don’t forget to explore the ancient Hierapolis with its Theater, Necropolis, Roman Baths, and Agora. The return journey over the Taurus Mountains to Antalya provides a scenic view of mountain villages and the Lake District.
Situated 19 km north of Denizli, Pamukkale is Turkey’s premier mineral-bath spa, celebrated for its natural beauty. Hot calcium-laden waters emerge from the earth, cascading over a cliff to form dramatic travertines of hard, brilliantly white calcium that create pools.
Your full-day excursion commences early in the morning with a pickup from your Antalya hotel. After a lunch break, you’ll explore the snow-white terraced cliffs of Pamukkale, often referred to as the Cotton Palace. The calcite-laden waters originate from springs on a 200-meter high cliff, creating mineral forests, petrified waterfalls, and terraced basins.
Visit historical sites such as the Roman theater, Apollo temple, Roman baths, fountains, and the agora. Following the tour, take the opportunity to swim in thermal pools. An optional extra is a swim in Cleopatra’s Pool, available for an additional fee.
Lake Salda
One way around the world from the surface of Mars to have two special places in Salda Lake is known as one of Turkey’s enchanting beautys. This lake, which is about 4 km away from the center of Yesilova district of Burdur, is spread over an area of 44 square kilometers. Yeşilova district, Doğanbaba, and Salda Lake is surrounded by Kayadibi, which is among Turkey’s deepest lakes with depths of up to 184 meters.
Salda Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in Turkey which is situated in Burdur-Denizli-Antalya amid the city. Located in the Lakes Region, this lake is composed of a limestone-like structure called stromatolic rocks. These rocks, which are also seen on the surface of Mars, make it possible to produce magnesium on the surface of the lake. So the lake has a white color and the borders are white.
