The Antalya Archaeological Museum is one of Turkey’s largest museums, located in Antalya. Exhibiting over 5,000 artifacts relating to the history of the Mediterranean and Pamphylia regions in Anatolia, the Antalya Museum (also known as the Antalya Archaeological Museum) is one of the largest and most important museums in Turkey.

There are 14 exhibition rooms, including the ‘Gallery of the Gods’ and the Sarcophagus Gallery. Artifacts displayed cover over 2,500 years of Anatolian history and include fantastic collections dating from the Stone Age to Hellenistic, Roman, and Ottoman periods.

Born out of an attempt to prevent the country’s archaeological treasures from being plundered by the Italians in WWI, the museum started its life in a mosque in 1922, only moving its collection to its present building in 1972.
