Bodrum has a rich history that dates back to the 12th century B.C. The city, originally known as Halicarnassus, was the birthplace of Herodotus – the Father of History – who lived in the 5th century B.C. He was the first historian to collect material in a systematic way, test its accuracy to a certain degree, and then arrange it in a vivid and well-constructed narrative.
Nestled along Turkey’s stunning Aegean coast, Bodrum is the ultimate starting point for an unforgettable Blue Cruise. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, rich history, and crystal-clear waters, this charming port city effortlessly blends ancient heritage with modern luxury. Home to the iconic Bodrum Castle and the ruins of the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus—one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World—Bodrum offers a captivating mix of culture and seaside beauty. As the main hub for gulet yacht cruises, it invites travelers to set sail on a journey through idyllic bays, hidden coves, and historic islands, making it the perfect launch point for an extraordinary sailing adventure.
Another unique historical building is the Amphitheatre – one of the oldest theatres in Anatolia standing since Classical times with an impressive capacity of 13,000 guests. Today it still plays host to many popular shows and concerts.
Another not-to-be-missed sight is the Myndos Gate where Alexander the Great first entered Halicarnassus.
We’ll arrive in Kargili Bay (also known as Molla Ibrahim Bay) early in the morning. After a laid-back lunch, we’ll head to Kisebuku (Alakisla Buku), where you can explore ancient ruins. It’s a peaceful spot to unwind, and we’ll spend the night here, enjoying the tranquility of this charming bay.
After breakfast, we’ll disembark from the gulet by 10:00, marking the end of an unforgettable journey.
