2nd day : Pergamum, Thyatira & Izmir

Duration: 9 hours (approx) | Tour category: Private Tour | Pick up/ Drop Point: Hotel | Pickup Time: 08:00 am | (Breakfast)

  • Our day begins with a visit to Pergamum, a city where the early Christian church was praised for its perseverance (Revelation 2:12-17) and where the first Christians were martyred under Roman rule. We will explore the legendary Acropolis, pass through the Royal Gates, see the foundations of the Altar of Zeus, and visit the ruins of the once-great library, which housed 200,000 volumes.
  • Next, we journey east to Thyatira, an ancient trading hub known for its production of purple dye. Here, we will see remnants of the ancient roadway and period columns. Thyatira was one of the most significant of the Seven Churches of Revelation.
  • Continuing south, we arrive in Izmir, Turkey’s third-largest city and a historical center for both Jewish and Christian communities. In biblical times, Izmir was known as Smyrna, another of the Seven Churches (Revelation 2:8-11). We will spend the night in Izmir, reflecting on the rich history and spiritual significance of the places we have explored.

3rd day : Sardis, Philadelphia, Pamukkale

Duration: 9 hours (approx) | Tour category: Private Tour | Pick up/ Drop Point: Hotel | Pickup Time: 08:00 am | (Breakfast)

  • Departing our Hotel in Izmir, we'll see Polycarp's Church and visit the ancient roman agora. Then, we travel to Sardis, which was berated by John for its facade of strength when, in reality, it was weak (Rev. 3:1-6). Here coins were minted and the dyeing of wool originated. We'll visit the gymnasium and synagogue.
  • Our next stop is nearby Philadelphia from where we are challenged to “hold fast” and look forward to the coming of the "new Jerusalem" (Rev. 3:7-13) in the Book of Revelation. Not much is left of the city except for the ancient wall and the remains of a Byzantine basilica in the modern city of Alasehir.
  • Our lodging this evening will be in a lovely spa hotel in Pamukkale.

4th day : Hierapolis, Laodicea & Colossae

Duration: 9 hours (approx) | Tour category: Private Tour | Pick up/ Drop Point: Hotel | Pickup Time: 08:00 am | (Breakfast)

  • Our day begins in Hierapolis, or "Sacred City," once a major center for pagan worship before becoming an important Christian hub in the first century. According to tradition, the Apostle Philip lived and was martyred here. The city's famous hot springs, in contrast to the cold mountain springs of nearby Colossae, likely inspired the metaphor of the "lukewarm" faith of the Laodiceans in Revelation 3:14-22. Paul also references Hierapolis and Laodicea in his letter to the Colossians (Colossians 4:13).
  • Next, we explore Laodicea, home to extensive ruins, including a stadium and an advanced water system. This city played a significant role in early Christianity and is mentioned as one of the Seven Churches of Revelation.
  • Our journey continues to Colossae, known for receiving Paul’s letter to the Colossians. Once a thriving city, it has since faded into obscurity, with no visible ruins remaining today.
  • We spend the rest of the day traveling through the picturesque Turkish countryside, arriving in the charming where we will stay for the next two nights. Before the day ends, we’ll visit a local Turkish rug cooperative to learn about this ancient craft and its significance in Turkish culture.

5th day : Ephesus, Basilica of St. John & Sirince

Duration: 8 hours (approx) | Tour category: Private Tour | Pick up/ Drop Point: Hotel | Pickup Time: 08:30 am | (Breakfast)

  • Today, we journey to Selçuk to explore the remarkable ruins of ancient Ephesus, once a bustling port city of 250,000 people. Walking through its well-preserved streets, we will admire the Library of Celsus, the **Agora**, the Grand Theater, and the intricate mosaics of the aristocratic Terrace Houses (optional). These ruins offer a glimpse into the city's rich history, including its significance in early Christianity.
  • Next, we visit the Basilica of St. John, which features an immersion baptismal and is believed to be the final resting place of the Apostle John. From here, we enjoy a panoramic view of the Ephesus harbor, the Mosque of Jesus, and the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This day offers a profound insight into the cultural and religious heritage of Ephesus, bringing its history to life.
  • We finalize our tour with the visit of Sirince Village. The village is known for its picturesque streets, traditional houses, and amazing local wines. I spent the day strolling through the cobblestone paths, soaking in the rustic atmosphere, and tasting some of the most unique fruit wines I've ever had. The people there are so warm and welcoming, and it feels like you’re stepping back in time.
  • You definitely have to visit the local market—it’s full of handmade crafts, fresh produce, and a variety of regional treats. And the views from the village are just breathtaking, especially when you’re overlooking the surrounding olive groves and vineyards.
