It is define as the newest method in hair transplantation, some say there is no ‘recognized’ technique called DHI, others claim that it is just a marketing gimmick, while a fraction explains the method as; FUE with implanters.

DHI technique allows reducing the time the grafts remain out. It is providing close and natural-looking planting. You will not have incision made in the region to be sown. We are able to plant more grafts into per cm2, recovery time and infection risk are minimized.

This technique takes longer than FUE method. The mean operation time is 6-8 hours. In the DHI method, personalized pen tips are used. The operation is performed with minimum pain and minimal bleeding.

Unlike the FUE method, during the DHI implantation method, recipient site creation and graft implantation are performed simultaneously, i.e. extraction and implantation are combined as part of a one or two step process, embedding the extracted hair follicles directly into the recipient areas without the need of creating channel incisions via utilizing an implanter (Choi) pen.

The implanter/Choi Pen features a very thin and sharp fine tip.
This fine tipped Choi needle is shaped like a hollow needle and allows the grafts to be inserted within the needle.
This is why the DHI procedure is also referred as the Choi method.

FEATURES OF DHI HAIR TRANSPLANTAION

  • The pen nibs who are specific to the patient and only have one use are utilized.

  • The DHI Hair Transplant can be performed with a better management of the depth, density and sides.

  • The operation is realized with much less pain and bleeding.

  • The operations are only performed by the specialized hair surgeons.

  • Thanks to suitable genetics and insensitivity of DHI, transplanted roots stay forever.

The DHI method procedure

  1. During a hair transplant procedure operated with the Choi implanter, the specialized physician/surgeon or technicians transmit the harvested grafts into the implanter pen.

The graft is inserted gently within the hollow needle, which is positioned at the end of the implanter pen, to be handed back to the specialized physician.

  2. Subsequently, the needle is inserted at an accurate angle of 40-45 degrees into the scalp by the surgeon, as the incision site is made and then the graft is implanted by pressing down on the plunger.

  3. During a procedure, normally an amount varying from 2-6 Choi implanters and approximately 15-16 needles are concurrently used, with the device coming in a variety of needle sizes to fit the follicular unit grafts.

DHI HAIR TRANSPLANT STAGES

Collection: In this stage, with a specific tool called “micro motor”, the hairs who are smaller than 1 diameter are removed from the scalp and collected. There will not be any scars or cuts and the collected hairs are immediately suitable for transplantation.

Arrangement: The hairs are carefully put in the pens which contain suitable canals for the height of the hair strand.

Plantation: The hairs inside the pens are stuck in directly in the hairless area, thus the canals are opened and the hairs are planted at the same time. The hair is transferred easily, suitably for the angle and the depth in the area. They will stay forever and never be lost post transplantation.

This is one of the special methods developed with the use of the FUE technique. Other methods require the hair roots to be implanted only after they are subjected to various processes by the specialist. In DHI, however, there is no waiting time for implantation after collection of the roots. Implantation is done at the same time and one by one. Therefore, it offers a solution to people who wish to have thicker hair or those who do not want for the hair in the implantation area to be cut off completely.

The biggest advantage of FUE is implantation of the maximum number of hair at a single time. For implantations that involve small amounts of hair or multiple sessions, DHI is a better choice. Therefore, we can say that it is a technique within the FUE range rather than an alternative to it.

Similar to conventional FUE, this technique involves the collection of hair grafts individually. The difference is in the fact that the collected hairs are implanted right away. Therefore, the technique does not require special preparation. Another difference is in the amount of time that is spent. While it is possible to implant 4,000 grafts in FUE, only around 1,500 grafts can be implanted in DHI. This may seem like a disadvantage; however, since the patient groups for the two methods differ from each other, the outcomes are also different and satisfactory for both.

The most important advantage is that the procedure can be performed without shortening the hair, especially for small transplantations and female patients. By this way, daily life is not effected by the procedure. It is also a good option for implantations that are to be made in multiple sessions. Since both FUE and DHI methods are performed under local anesthesia, there is no pain in any way.

We do not recommend the procedure for men who require extensive implantation and it is not possible to use the method in such situations anyways. However, the method is particularly suitable for women, as well as for men who wish to thicken their hair and men who want beard transplantation.

We are the first choice of patients from many regions of Europe. The highest number of patients to whom we provide services is from Spain, followed by the Arabian Peninsula.

Before the patients arrive, we ask them to send pictures of their hair and perform a general evaluation based on these. We do not invite patients whose donor area is not sufficient or those for whom we believe that the procedure will not yield good results. Therefore, most patients arrive knowing the implantation conditions and the limits of treatment, which ensures for their expectations to be met. This, in turn, increases their trust in us.

Patients of all ages between 25 and 60 apply to us. Each month, we perform hair transplantation for approximately 10 up to 25 patients from abroad. Our workload is heavier during winter months. The number of local patients we treat is also on the rise.

I can say that we work with a satisfaction rate of 95%. This is because we make sure to provide solutions for the correct types with the correct methods; our patients are always happy after the procedure. We consider each patient to be our reference for new patients.
